With all the problems caused by gas products these days, there is a frantic search to find a new, reasonable resource to replace gasoline. From the oil spills to economic depressions, gas is causing problems that could be avoided by replacing oil. The replacements are said to be either a battery powered car or the use of plants and cellulose to power an engine. The Advance Research Projects Agency has put a budget of 400 million dollars for two years toward the invention of a new and efficient product. The agency invested 3.2 million on research for the use of magnesium in batteries; the team is being led by Professor Ceder. The energy department is also investing 4.6 million dollars in the research for a gasoline substitute. It is unavoidable that a substitute will be needed within years to come. Due to either global warming, low resources, or another reason, gasoline will eventually have to be replaced. Only time can tell who will emerge as the next robber baron of the industry.
